Thanks Everyone
It’s been another wonderful year! I took some time this Thanksgiving to really count my blessings and think about how lucky I really am. It’s been a great year for me, being accepted to Carnegie Mellon and making a decision about graduate school are the big highlight for me. Of course there are countless other things to give thanks for… first on my list is my family.
I decided a few weeks ago that I would fly to Milwaukee and surprise my grandma and parents for Thanksgiving. I let my Aunt Cindy and Uncle Spence in on the secret, but everyone else was completely surprised. It was the first time I’ve ever shown up at a family event unexpected and it was really fun. Not only was it great to see the look on my mom’s face, but it also gave me something to look forward to over the past few hectic weeks. Here are a few “staged” pictures we took. Unfortunately we were having too much fun playing cards and eating to capture anything interesting.
There are two more incredibly busy weeks ahead. It was nice to get a short break to rest and regroup before the final push of the semester. It’s hard to believe that one semester is almost finished, but I guess what they say is true: time flies when you’re having fun!
Go Bucky!
As busy as I’ve been over the past two months I’ve done my best to keep tabs on college football. I think I get more and more into it every year. I’ll admit that I wasn’t in college, largely because my school didn’t even have a football team. Moreover, I was usually traveling to cross country meets during football season so I couldn’t even take trips to party and go to Badger games with all my friends. This year, Wisconsin had one of it’s best seasons ever, finishing 11-1. It’s the first time in school history the Wisconsin Badgers had eleven wins in a season. There only loss this year was to No. 2 Michigan. It was even more impressive given that it was our coach, Bret Bielema, is in his first year.
I think Wisconsin’s awesome season has been overshadowed by the powerhouses in the Big Ten: Ohio State and Michigan. A week ago I simply had to take the opportunity to travel to Columbus to party with the Buckeyes’ and root against Michigan. Although I wasn’t feeling 100% I decided I couldn’t pass it up. I drove up with my friends Madhu and Shae and although we didn’t have tickets it was the next best thing for watching one of the biggest games in college football. It was quite a scene and reminded me of Madison on big game days. I don’t think we really could take in the scope of the madness, but these pictures that Madhu took almost do it justice. Big Ten football is the best!
Wisconsin has been selected for the Capital One Bowl for the second consecutive year. They will likely play LSU, but I could be mistaken… I don’t think the other team has been selected yet. If we do face LSU it will be a tough matchup, but if we do as well as we did last year when the Badgers upset Auburn then we stand a great chance of winning.
With football wrapping up it’s on to basketball season. I can feel March Madness approaching… I probably won’t have a lot of time to watch games, except over the holiday break. I’ll have to take full advantage of that. I think the Badgers (currently No.7) have a strong lineup and Alando Tucker is definitely going to rip it up this season!
