Kieran’s Irish Pub

I picture Ireland to be a land of wondering drunkards, which I am sure it is not. Last night, we went to Kieran’s Irish Pub and listened to The Tim Malloys band. Kieran’s is a friendly, social place that is my favoite on St. Patrick’s Day. I’ve never heard a band sing both Flogging Molly and Tenacious D cover songs in the same set until last night. Yet, despite many requests, they didn’t play Night Moves. Sorry Chris, maybe next time.

Getting out of shape

Went on a short run last night only to discover how out of shape I am getting. I suppose it is all relative and I only feel that way because I was in great shape for my marathon 2 months ago. I discovered a new map site for keeping my routes. I haven’t decided if I like it better than the other one I use. My route yesterday was about 4.5 miles along the east side of the Mississippi River. It seemed very humid and reminded me of the new word I heard the weatherman use the other day: “muggidity”. It has a certain ring to it.

Steve and his 3 drinks

Good thing I did something active though, because I went out to the new Drink in uptown with my roommates. I’m sure I had enough to negate my workout. At one point, my roommate Steve had 3 drinks on the table. I’ve heard of double-fisting, but I’m not sure what you’d call this.

Went for a nice bike ride yesterday evening. I took an out-and-back route down West River Road to Fort Snelling. Duration: 1 hr 10 minutes.

Wisconsin News

Wisconsin made the national news again! This happens about once a year when something tragic happens. Just in case you don’t know where Wisconsin (the 23rd largest state) is this news report provides an inset of the U.S. with Wisconsin highlighted. Everyone who flunked geometry thanks you USA Today!

Oh, and another way to know this story is from Wisconsin, a tornado victim’s recount of the storm:

“We were … hiding behind the bar,” Peaslee said. “We had beer, anyway.”

Nice Peaslee, real nice. Way to represent.
